Checky vs Steady (Status Hero)

Status Hero is now Steady, a credit-priced “teamwork OS” with AI agents. Checky is a focused check-in tool with flat prices and a self-host option.

Status Hero is now Steady: it was renamed in January 2024 and statushero.com redirects to runsteady.com. This page compares Checky with Steady as it is today.

In short

Status Hero was renamed Steady in January 2024. Steady sells monthly credit packs (from 500 credits for $25 a month) instead of per-user plans; each added user brings 100 free credits. It doesn't publish how many credits a user uses, so we can't compute a price for 25 or 100 users.

Steady includes smart check-ins, a daily digest, activity integrations such as GitHub and AI agents called Echoes. Checky is narrower: scheduled check-ins with expected answers, KPIs, absences and holidays, compliance tracking and anonymous wellbeing – at a flat price or with a one-time self-host licence.

Checky fits better if …

  • You want a predictable price per team size
  • Self-hosting or a one-time licence matters
  • Absences and holidays should pause check-ins
  • People should answer by email or from ChatGPT/Claude

Steady (Status Hero) fits better if …

  • You want check-ins combined with activity from GitHub, Jira and similar tools
  • You want AI agents that summarise work across tools
  • You buy through the Atlassian or AWS Marketplace

Switching from Steady (Status Hero) to Checky

  1. 1

Export what you need from Steady and keep it as an archive (we couldn't verify Steady's export options). Checky can't import Steady or Status Hero data.

  2. 2

Pick where Checky runs: hosted at yourteam.checky.team (14-day trial, no card), on your own Cloudflare account (one-click deploy) or with Docker on your own server.

  3. 3

Recreate your questions as checks: schedule (e.g. weekdays at 9:00), type (yes/no, rating, text or KPI), expected answer and reaction window.

  4. 4

Invite your team or connect SSO (Google, Microsoft, OIDC or SAML) and verify your email domain so colleagues join automatically.

  5. 5

Add absences and public holidays so nobody gets asked while they're off.

  6. 6

Run both tools in parallel for a week or two, then switch Steady (Status Hero) off. Your Checky data exports as one SQLite file whenever you want to move between hosted and self-hosted.
